Synopse
An aimless 21-year old woman, another well over 85, a bit of porn industry and a thermos flask full of money – in his fourth film, Sean Baker opens up a world full of differences and surprises. Jane is treading water in her life in California’s San Fernando Valley, playing with her chihuahua Starlet and getting stoned with her flatmates, who are in the porn and modelling business. At a flea market she buys an old Thermos flask from Sadie, an elderly widow, in which she later finds $20,000. Plagued by a bad conscience, Jane begins to spend time with the old lady. An unusual friendship develops between the withdrawn old woman and her younger counterpart.
»Finding money like that actually happened to a friend of my father’s. It seemed like a good starting point to bring two characters together and I wrote a short screenplay that was influenced by Harold and Maude.« (Sean Baker)
