Synopse

In his most elaborate film to date, Bonello portrays the legendary couturier Yves Saint Laurent. A passionate biopic about Saint Laurent’s most formative years from 1967 to 1976 – between creativity and cruising, studio and addiction, Maria Callas and Velvet Underground. 1967. Fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent is internationally successful, the jet set and the Parisian elite can’t get enough of his creations. With his boyfriend Pierre Bergé, Laurent spends the summer in his Villa Majorelle in Marrakesh, working on what will become the legendary campaign for his first fragrance for men. One evening, he meets dandy and Lagerfeld confidant Jacques de Bascher and begins an excessive affair which takes him to the edge of the abyss.

BERTRAND BONELLO (*1968 in Nizza) ist eine zentrale Figur des zeitgenössischen französischen Kinos. 2001 erregte er mit seinem Spielfilmdebüt Der Pornograph internationale Aufmerksamkeit. Sein Biopic Saint Laurent (2014) wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet. FILMFEST HAMBURG zeigte 2019 seinen Film Zombie Child.
