Synopse

The new film from Jafar Panahi, who has been in the notorious Evin prison in Tehran since July. No Bears tells two parallel love stories and had its premiere at the film festival in Venice. In both stories, the lovers are put under pressure by hidden, unavoidable obstacles and beset by the force of superstition and the mechanics of power.

Regie

With many award-winning films like Der Spiegel (1997), Der Kreis (2000) und Offside (2006) JAFAR PANAHI (*1960 in Iran) is seen as one of Iran’s most important independent film-makers. Most of his films have been banned at home due to his critical view of the regime. He was arrested at the beginning of July 2022 and has been in custody ever since. FILMFEST HAMBURG showed his films Der Kreis (2000), The Accordion (2010), This Is not a Film (2011), Closed Curtain (2013) and Drei Gesichter (2018) and awarded Panahi the Douglas Sirk Prize in 2018.
