Synopse
An historical thriller with a spectacular aesthetic: the film makes wide use of blue‐screen techology and follows forerunners like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Sin City. Vienna 1920. After 7 years as a POW in Russia, former detective Peter Perg (Murathan Muslu) returns to his home town. The Kaiser he fought for no longer exists. Feeling like an alien in a bleak world, Perg is confronted with the gruesome murder of an ex-comrade – and this is not the only case of its kind. Together with pathologist Dr. Theresa Körner (Liv Lisa Fries) the ex-policeman starts making enquiries and himself attracts the attention of the murderer.
Regie
STEFAN RUZOWITZKY (*1961) came to the attention of a wider audience with films like The Inheritors (1998) and Anatomy (2000). In 2008, he won the Oscar for the best foreign-language film for The Counterfeiters.
