Synopse
The lawyer Vernau (Jan Josef Liefers) goes to Havana to look for Martin Gebhardt (Henry Hübchen), who disappeared 30 years ago. He apparently emigrated in 1980 from West to East Germany, but never arrived there. His sister Katharina (Gudrun Landgrebe) suspects that he is in Cuba. There, Vernau is confronted by a wall of silence. Only with the help of hotel employee Anna-Maria (Alina Levshin) does Vernau manage to find Gebhardt. It then turns out that the man he's looking for isn't Katharina's brother at all. So who is the man "without a shadow"? Based on a thriller by best-selling author Elisabeth Herrmann, the film shines thanks to its excellent cast.
Regie
Carlo Rola (1958) studied in Frankfurt am Main. After training in theatre and opera, in the mid-1980s he switched to film direction. His work includes Rosa Roth, Krupp – Eine deutsche Familie and Niemand ist eine Insel.
