Synopse
The East coast of the USA, 1740: English troops are trying to snatch the colonies held by the French and involve the local Indians in the conflict. When the daughter of a chief is kidnapped by another tribe, Chingachgook (Gojko Mitić) and his friend Wildtöter [Deerslayer] set out on a dangerous mission to free her. Above all, he wants to convince his fellow Indians of one thing: that the war of the whites is not their war. The film is the equivalent to the popular West German series of Karl May films and is based on a story from the Leatherstocking Tales of James Fenimore Cooper, which enjoyed huge popularity in the 1950s in the GDR. The film versions starring Gojko Mitić were also extremely successful.
