Synopse

Six men on a yacht in the middle of the Aegean Sea. To pass the time, they play a game with tough and increasingly absurd rules. Parts of the body are compared and measured; there follow disciplines like window-cleaning, silver-polishing or making sea urchin salad. Friends become enemies - hungry enemies. But none of the men would think of leaving the ship before being crowned the winner - and bearing on his little finger the ring of victory: the Chevalier. Chevalier is a deadly serious and bizarre comedy in which old-fashioned concepts and rituals of virility are taken to an absurd extreme.

Regie

ATHINA RACHEL TSANGARI (*1966) became known for her work with director and producer Giorgos Lanthimos. In 2005, she produced his film Dogtooth, which is often described as the "first new Greek film". Lanthimos in turn produced Tsangari's internationally acclaimed second feature film Attenberg (2010).
