Synopse
On 11th September 1973, Salvador Allende, the first democratically elected socialist president in Latin America, was brought down in a putsch by the Chilean military and murdered the same day. He became a symbol for democracy and human rights. The man himself virtually disappeared behind his iconisation. Marcia Tambutti Allende, his granddaughter, rediscovers Allende. She sets out on an intimate, moving journey into the past, to the time before the coup. But her rummaging through the private and everyday moments of her grandfather's life doesn't find universal approval in the family. Nothing should be allowed to cast a shadow on his sacrosanct public image. And so a struggle for the memory of Salvador Allende begins, revealing a picture of the complex emotional and political situation of his family over the last 40 years.
