Synopse
Documentary: The public perception of Haiti is usually that of a crisis zone: still suffering from its colonial past, haunted by disease and disaster, dependent on aid organisations and political interests. The island state's deeply rooted, rich culture, however, is largely unknown. The film shows the country from the point of view of sociologists, historians, street children and voodoo priests. It also speaks to people with long-held ties to the country like Sean Penn, who are well acquainted with the realities Haiti faces. The result is an exciting, unretouched portrait of the country in all its complexity and beauty.
