Synopse
Car mechanic Anton Grubske is never short of a trick or two. In 1945 he manages to avoid being sent to a POW camp and returns to his home town in Brandenburg. There, he marries his boss' daughter and brings his workshop up to scratch. At the same time, he and an old girlfriend are active on the lucrative black market and pretty soon Anton is an Ostmark millionaire. Then one day one of his gambles goes wrong. Will his craftiness get him out of trouble this time too? Seen by around 800,000 cinemagoers, this fast-moving comedy with excellent dialogues was one of DEFA's most popular productions.
Regie
Günter Reisch (1927-2014) was known for his DEFA comedies, in which he portrayed the opportunism and sneakiness of everyday life in the GDR amusingly and with fine irony.
