Synopse
Under the sign of the big A: Julia Ducournau’s new film deals intensely and intimately with the transformation of a teenager during an epidemic. Le Havre in the 1980s. 13-year old Alpha is growing up with her single mum and experiencing the turmoil of puberty. Mobbed by her classmates because she’s good at school, someone starts a rumour that she suffers from a contagious disease. When she has a tattoo done of the letter A, which then starts bleeding with increasing frequency, the mood around her turns to panic. Then her uncle, a hopeless junkie, moves in and the situation deteriorates further when she starts suffering from the same terrible cramps as he does.
