Synopse
Carefree and at the same time melancholic, this Portuguese debut feature is reminiscent of Eric Rohmer, accompanying a young drifter as he roams through Lisbon having chance encounters. Spring is in the air and Nicolau has just turned 24. But he isn’t in the mood to celebrate: he still lives with his parents, he misses his ex and his dream of becoming a professional musician is crumbling fast. He roams Lisbon looking for something that he can’t define exactly. A job? A new girlfriend? Hope? And even though he really has no energy for anything, fate has several opportunities in store to get his life together.
Regie
JOÃO ROSAS studied communication and film in Lisbon, Bologna and London. His fictitious creation Nicolau has been the subject of several short films since 2012. A Luminous Life is his first full-length feature.
