Synopse
Drug deals in among falafels and a film shoot with live ammunition: Palestinian twin brothers Arab and Tarzan Nasser portray the daily fight for survival in Gaza as a bizarre Western. 2007. Yahya, a young student in Gaza, makes friends with the charismatic restaurant owner Osama. Together, they start a new business: delivering drugs with their food orders. But soon they run into a corrupt policeman and his oversized ego. And Yahya is also supposed to star in an action film – financed by Hamas and with real guns for props, as there’s no money for special effects.

ARAB and TARZAN NASSER are twins and both studied visual arts at the al-Aqsa University in Gaza. After Dégradé (2015) and Gaza mon amour (FFHH 2020) Once Upon a Time in Gaza is their third feature film and at Cannes won the main prize in the section »Un Certain Regard«.
