Synopse
24 hours in the life of a bridegroom: a warm, humorous and generous portrait of human overload from Philippe Falardeau. A fast-moving, brilliantly constructed film based on the autobiographical book by Montreal novelist Alain Farah. It’s supposed to be most wonderful day of his life, but Alain is in total chaos. His complete extended family is coming to his wedding in the St. Joseph Oratory in Montreal: above all his parents – Lebanese immigrants, who came to Quebec from Egypt 30 years previously, divorced 10 years later and who haven’t spoken in the last decade. The closer the date comes, the worse the young man feels. He can’t sleep, suffers stomach cramps – and when his panic attacks return, he reaches for his old medication. Cousin Édouard, Alain’s best man, who is like a brother to him, is no help. Quite the opposite: he was intending to drive the happy couple in an open-topped Mustang, but his thoughts are distracted by something else. And when suddenly a mysterious friend from the past turns up and reopens old wounds, even Alain’s minimum target – to survive the day somehow – is in jeopardy.
