Synopse

An unorthodox and loving story about a hen searching for a safe place, but which then ends up in the midst of a human moral dilemma. After escaping an industrial chicken farm, a hen takes refuge in a dilapidated restaurant on the Greek coast. Here, it finds love, navigates its way through human hierarchies and fights to protect its eggs from the greedy owner. It witnesses theft, smuggling and the dirty business in refugees. An animal lead actor whose fight to defend its motherhood reflects the chaotic compromises and silent struggles of human life.

Regie

GYÖRGY PÁLFI is a Hungarian director known for his innovative story-telling. His debut film Hukkle (2002), a hiccup thriller without dialogue, was, like his second work Taxidermia (2006), the Hungarian nominee for the Best Foreign-Language Oscar. The Hen in his latest film was played by eight different chickens.
