Synopse

Ulrich Köhler’s new film is a multi-layered reflection on art, morals and colonialism. During the turbulent shooting of a controversial new version of Medea in Senegal, protagonist Maja (Maren Eggert) has an affair with her co-star Nourou (Jean-Christophe Folly). Months later they meet again at the film’s premiere in Berlin. Their feelings are rekindled, but a racist incident with a security man puts a strain on the reunion. The tension increases as everybody tries to do the right thing. And as the ancient drama on the screen comes to a head, art and life begin to blend together.

Regie

Since his debut feature Bungalow (2002), ULRICH KÖHLER has been one of the leading representatives of the so-called »Berlin School« of film-makers. His film Das freiwillige Jahr was shown in 2019 at FILMFEST HAMBURG and won the Hamburg Producers’ Prize for German TV productions.
