Synopse

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Badlands, a young woman fights for her independence. An impressive drama featuring non-professional and professional actors working side by side. In deepest South Dakota lives Tabatha, a young, rebellious horse trainer, who saves horses and then sells them. But after the death of her husband she has to deal with financial insecurity and grief. She lives on a ranch with her pubescent daughter Porshia and a group of young people from the neighbourhood who have found refuge there. Together, they form a maverick patchwork community, questioning and redefining both the idea of a core family and women’s roles generally.

KATE BEECROFT comes from Los Angeles and graduated at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. East of Wall is her debut film, for which she spent three years living with her main protagonist Tabitha. At the Sundance Film Festival, the film won the Audience Prize in the section »Next«.
