Synopse
In Cairo, a celebrated actor gets caught up in the machinations of power: a bleak political thriller which is at the same time a homage to the golden age of Egyptian cinema. Overnight, George Fahmy, Egypt’s most popular actor, falls from grace with the authorities. Soon, the whole film world gives him the cold shoulder: roles are given to other actors, producers avoid him, the press begins a smear campaign. In despair, Fahmy is forced to take on the role of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in a kitschy, patriotic biopic. And the disgraced star does his job well – too well. He is sucked into the inner circles of power and becomes a marionette in a complex web of lies and intrigue, which not only puts him in danger, but his whole family too.
