Synopse
For many, she was the greatest actor of her time: an elegant, historically detailed biopic of the Italian silent film star Eleonora Duse – brilliantly played by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Eleonora Duse looks back on a legendary, decades-long career, which appears to be coming to an end. But in the period of uncertainty between World War I and the rise of Fascism, the divine diva follows a call stronger than any resignation she might feel and returns to where her life began: the stage. Armed only with her art, she defies time and disillusionment and turns every word and gesture into a revolutionary act. But the price of defending beauty against the brutality of power and history is a high one
Regie
PIETRO MARCELLO studied art at the Academy of Visual Arts in Naples. He began making documentaries and later turned to feature films. His work Martin Eden (FFHH 2019), based on the novel by Jack London, won international awards.
