Synopse
Fatih Akin portrays the childhood of Hark Bohm: a personal and poetic Heimat story, whose pictures capture both the expanses of the North Sea island and the inner workings of its characters. Amrum, Spring 1945. Seal hunting, night fishing, working in the fields, nothing is too dangerous or exhausting for 12-year old Nanning (Jasper Billerbeck) to help his mother Hille (Laura Tonke) feed the family in the final days of the war. The long yearned-for peace, however, brings new conflicts and Nanning has to learn to go his own way. »This film was a mission, a journey into the depths of my “German soul”. Perhaps the last lesson that master craftsman Hark Bohm taught me: cinema remains an eternal mystery.« (Fatih Akin)
