Synopse
Anarchy in Singapore – a debut feature about cockiness, non-conformism and rebellion in a girl gang within an authoritarian system. At a strict girls’ school, Choo Xin Yu founds a gang with three other outsiders. Their clumsy efforts at rebellion, documented on video, reveal hidden wishes and expose the quiet violence of such institutions, which characterize growing-up in Singapore today. While the girls try to deal with their own and others’ ideas of their future, the film shows the spurious self-promotion of this economically successful country, which is bent on ensuring subordination to the national narrative by any means necessary.
