Synopse
A life between exploitation and empowerment: in a mix of drama and body horror, the film portrays the existential struggle of a Sudanese immigrant in Egypt. 26-year old Aisha works in Cairo for a care service. Every day, she witnesses the conflicts between African migrants and local gangs. And then there are her own problems: her landlord, who is a gang member, forces her into an immoral deal in exchange for her safety. As Aisha’s situation gets steadily worse, the young woman begins to change – in an unpredictable and profound way.

MORAD MOSTAFA grew up in the Ain Shams quarter of Cairo, the setting of several of his films, including his feature film debut Aisha Can’t Fly Away. The drama had its premiere at Cannes in the section »Un Certain Regard«.
