What makes the MICHEL Children’s and Youth Film Festival special is that the films are not dubbed, but shown in their original language. In addition to English, French and Dutch, exotic languages such as Malayalam and Sinhalese can also be heard throughout the room. Professional narrators read the dialogues live in German directly in the cinema auditorium. While the voice actors carefully take on the role of storytellers, the young audience can experience the original mood of the film and the characters much more intensely than would be the case with dubbing. And unlike normal cinema visits, they can discuss any unanswered questions about the film with the directors and actors immediately after the screening.
