New Paths for European Film Distribution in the Post-Social-Media Era
Declining reach, rising advertising costs and the dominance of a few global platforms make it increasingly difficult to connect with audiences through traditional social media. At the same time, the key question arises: can European cinema develop its own strategies to regain visibility and strengthen audience engagement?
This panel brings together distributors, world sales companies, festivals and film journalists to explore whether collaboration can lead to new models that address audiences more directly – beyond the algorithms. Is there a real chance to build such pathways together in Europe?
Felix Graßmann (Managing Director & Programmer, Abaton Kino), Malika Rabahallah (Festival Director, Filmfest Hamburg), Anne-Cécile Roland (Head of Acquisitions, Pyramide Films), Rüdiger Suchsland (Film Journalist). Moderation: Fabian Massah (Head Indudstry Days, Filmfest Hamburg)
