Cliché, slapstick & kitsch – How do we tell East German history(ies)?
A conversation with Christian Schwochow

03.10.2024 12:00, CinemaxX Dammtor, Theater 3

On the Day of German Unity, the German Film Academy and MOIN Filmförderung invite you to a discussion with director and author Christian Schwochow, who was born on the island of Rügen and grew up in Leipzig and East Berlin. Whether with his debut Novemberkind (2008), his television success Bornholmer Straße (2014) or the multi-part Die Täter – Heute ist nicht aller Tage (2016) – Schwochow deals intensively with East German stories. At Filmfest Hamburg, we want to shed light on how and from which perspectives our East German and German-German history is told on film – and why the genres of comedy and spy thriller are so popular.

Speaker: Christian Schwochow
