In 2019, FILMFEST HAMBURG has highlighted the work of two of the most exciting voices in world cinema in the newly introduced format "Contemporary Cinema in Focus". On the occasion of the German premieres of Lav Diaz's dystopian science fiction The Halt and Céline Sciamma's Cannes Award winning Portrait of a Lady on Fire, FILMFEST HAMBURG invited the two filmmakers to present their films and working methods in detailed discussions. Screenings of earlier films completed the program. Hamburg's community network and educational channel TIDE recorded the talks.
