Podium discussion with Michaela Hummel and Stephan Lamby
Documentary films show the reality of the society. They take a stand and support the formation of opinion. In this way, they can arouse and provoke shitstorms in social media. Comments, Likes and co. are a direct influence to journalistic work. But can filmmakers really be »influenced« by public opinion? Because, as a journalist, you never let yourself be guided, right? And how is this influence expressed in projects?
The experienced producers Michaela Hummel (Doclights) and Stephan Lamby (Ecomedia, dbate.de) discuss the influence of social media on their work and how the opinion of the audience is shaped by Facebook, Twitter and co.
The discussion is led by Ulrike Dobelstein-Lüthe, who heads the Department of Continuing Education at the Hamburg Media School.
