Lieke and Milad are best friends and spend a lot of time in their hideaway in an old building site. Since her father left, Lieke has lived with her mother, who won't tell her how to find her father. Lieke, however, would really like to get to know him. At the same time, Milad's family receives bad news. Despite living in the Netherlands for years, they are due to be deported. Milad's father is very worried that, as he was once in prison for anti-government protests, now a similar fate awaits. Despite protests from Milad's classmates, one day the police come to take them away. But Milad has disappeared -- and Lieke too. Together they hide from the police and go on the hunt for Lieke's father. Lourens Blok creates an exciting story about friendship's ability to overcome obstacles and skilfully communicates a politically relevant topic to his young audience.
