They are poets and have survived some of the worst catastrophes of the 20th century: Hiroshima, the Holocaust, the Cultural Revolution, the genocide against the Kurds in Iraq and the Tutsis in Rwanda and the persecution in the wake of the revolution in Iran. With great sensitivity and often with fine wit, the film looks at the past and present of six men and women.
