A few days before the return of her husband Ludger (Hanno Koffler) from a training seminar in the USA, Eva (Friederike Becht) wakes up one morning beside the lifeless body of her baby, who has died in a tragic case of cot death. Unable to confide in anyone, Eva wanders the streets in shock. When she chances on an unattended baby in a multi-storey car park, in despair she takes it with her and from then on pretends it is her own. After her husband’s return, colleagues of his from the police start investigating the case of the kidnapped baby.
