Empathetic, impressive and wonderfully natural, the film portrays the decisive summer for a girl who would like to be different. Laure likes her trousers baggy and her hair short. She doesn‘t look like a girl and if it was up to her she wouldn‘t be one. Laure is a tomboy – she dresses, feels and behaves like a boy. When she and her parents move house, she takes the chance to present herself to her new friends as Michael. Skilfully, she manages to keep her parallel existence secret. For her family she remains Laure, for the other kids she is Michael, who likes horsing around and playing football and who falls in love with pretty Lisa. Laure enjoys her new identity to the full, as if this summer could last forever.
