DOCUMENTARY With more than 51 million media, the New York Public Library is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Opened in 1911, the building is however more than a distinguished archive of knowledge, collecting and preservation of information – it's a multi-facetted, lively place of learning. Documentary film legend Frederick Wiseman's camera has delved deep into the cosmos of the New York Public Library and discovered a space in which democracy is lived every day. Here, between piles of books monitors, anyone has the right to educate themselves and exchange views with others. The power of thought is the beginning of a better world.
