An old electric piano witnesses a meeting between two extraordinary people: Zhang Yishu grew up in Taiwan, but moved to China in the 1980s with his father. Once there, he had to get used to the Communist system which was particularly difficult after his father died. He became increasingly withdrawn and started teaching himself various musical instruments. At some point he encountered Zhang Pengcheng, an oddball on a bike, and gave him a electric piano. Director Shao Pao accompanies the two outsiders on their journey through a world that doesn't understand them. A modern documentary fairy tale about loneliness and friendship, norms and niches.
