Titli dreams of one day escaping his miserable life in the slums of Delhi. He diligently saves for his future, always making sure that his brothers and father -- all more or less brutal small-time criminals -- don't learn of his plans to escape. When the family council agrees that it's time for Titli to marry, another complication enters his life -- Neelu. The bride-in-waiting is less than enthusiastic about a future in a failed criminal dynasty, as she too has wider ambitions. This stark family drama shows a sombre picture of Indian society far from the clichés of Bollywood.
