Sophie and Simon sit on the floor of an abandoned hut. The young woman holds the 17-year old’s hand, listening to his story. He was kidnapped at the age of ten. Now he has returned. He is one of 30,000 children made to become child soldiers in North Uganda within the past 20 years. The film portrays four former child soldiers, their everyday lives. 22-year old politics student Sophie Haarhaus succeeded in gaining the boys’ trust, and made an intensely poetic film of great immediacy.
