After an all-or-nothing fight over the phone with his girlfriend Júlia, Heitor, a writer, dives straight into the pulsating nightlife of São Paulo. His declared aim is to win her back, but it seems as though the city refuses to let him arrive. The trip across town, congested with traffic, becomes a metaphor for varieties of love, loss and death. In Cannes the dialogues were tagged the Latin-American answer to Woody Allen.
