Jean-Luc Godard

JEAN-LUC GODARD (*1930) is seen as the most important representative of the French Nouvelle Vague and has left his mark on the language of cinema. In 2010, he was given an Oscar for his life's work.

Peter Greenaway

With The Draughtsman's Contract (1982) and other works, Peter Greenaway (*1942) positioned cinema firmly in the proximity of visual art and painting.

A film triptych from three of Europe's most inspirational film-makers: Jean-Luc Godard, Peter Greenaway and Edgar Pêra look at the history, aesthetics and technology of 3D and its effect on audiences. They experiment in very different ways with the process now dominating our cinema screens. The central pillar of the three episodes is the Portuguese town of Guimarães, which was last year's European Cultural Capital. 3X3D is a fascinating collective project and the best kind of intellectual and visual challenge.
