Hape Kerkeling from Recklinghausen can look back on a long career: Queen of the Netherlands, deputy editor-in-chief of the Grevenbroicher Tagblatt and performer of the classic world hit »Hurz«, presenter of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, these are just a few of the stations. The film accompanies Kerkeling to important places in his life and shows his transformation from a subversive entertainer to a serious author who campaigns against anti-Semitism and discrimination against homosexuals. Companions and media experts such as Campino, Günther Jauch, Tahnee, Otto Waalkes and Isabell Varell shed light on this unique comedic phenomenon and his journey through at least three decades of German television history.
