Golden Lion

Nomadland by Chloe Zhao, this year's closing film at FILMFEST HAMBURG, has been awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival this weekend. Francis McDormand stars a woman who has lost everything after the economic collapse of a city in rural Nevada and sets out in her van to lead a life as a nomad.

This will be the third time that the China-born director presents a film at FILMFEST HAMBURG: After Songs My Brothers Taught Me (2015) and The Rider (2017) - awarded the festival's "Art Cinema Award" - Nomadland will also celebrate its German premiere in Hamburg.
