FILMFEST BAR

After the cinema is before the party

21. September 2023

For the second time in a row, the FILMFEST BAR/Kasematte20 is the evening meeting point of FILMFEST HAMBURG. Every day from 9 p.m. and in the immediate vicinity of the CinemaxX Dammtor, festival-goers are invited to exchange views on the films they have seen over a drink or – depending on their mood – to end the day at a glittering party.

The FILMFEST BAR will open on Friday, 29 September with a concert by the currently most successful Austrian singer-songwriter. Voodoo Jürgens will not only perform his greatest hits such as “Heite grob ma Tote aus” and “Es geht ma ned ei”, but also the songs from Adrian Goiginger’s film Rickerl – Musik is höchstens a Hobby, which will celebrate its world premiere at the FILMFEST HAMBURG on the same day and in which Voodoo Jürgens plays his first leading role. Also taking part is Der Nino aus Wien.

Live music continues on Monday, 2 October at the event “Hörst du anders – Nachtschicht w/ korora und ZITRONI”. Berlin-based Hamburg korora will come to the FILMFEST BAR with his mobile live set-up and perform atmospheric electronic music from 10pm, including his debut single “Empty Matchbox”, released on 25 September. Afterwards, at 11.30pm, slot resident DJ Zitroni will be at the turntables, combining his two passions: electronic music and film.

This year, the Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival is once again a guest at FILMFEST HAMBURG and will not only celebrate the awarding of the Scythian Deer in the national feature film competition on 5 September, but also their closing. At the Molodist Aftershow, two Ukrainian DJ celebrities will perform. DJ Schu, who mixes electro and hypnotic techno into an experimental set, will kick things off. The second act presented by the Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival is the Ukrainian sound artist Mykola Lebed, who has put together an exclusive hybrid DJ set with a focus on Ukrainian experimental music.

On 6 October, the FILMFEST BAR’s Closing Night will be a last time of rebellion. In keeping with the motto “No more business, let’s tap dance”, Notsold and Grandma Inge call for one last dance to the driving techno bass.

The FILMFEST BAR / Kasematte 20 is open daily from 29 September to 6 October from 9 pm for all visitors with a varied programme.
