Story
In his new film, Bertrand Bonello blends 1960s Haiti and present-day Paris to a surreal voodoo vision. A film full of frenzy, both puzzling and enchanting. Haiti, 1962. A man dies after taking powder and is brought back to life by voodoo. From now on, he has to work as a slave on the island’s sugar cane plantations. Paris, 55 years later: at an elite boarding school, a girl with Haitian roots invites some classmates to a traditional initiation ritual – not anticipating that a lovesick friend will misuse the magic to try to put a spell on her boyfriend so that he never leaves her.
