Story

Somewhere in the middle of Mongolia an old man (Gu Xing-hong) lives off the sparse harvest of a sunflower field. Occasionally his son (Shi Pei-liang) comes by with a motorcycle. One day a mute young woman (Shen Meng-yao) appears. While the old man communicates in silent gestures, his son grows increasingly impatient. Zhen Wei’s directing debut portrays the difficult coexistence of generations. Numerous mirror reflections mark this arthouse film’s unusual visuality.
