Story
The film is an adaptation of Stefan Zweig’s classic novella relocated to Peking during the 1930s and 40s. After reading the last words of an anonymous admirer the man sifts frantically through his memory in order to put a name to the mysterious woman. It is a heartbreaking tale of female sacrifice and unrequited love.
