Story

Nuri Bilge Ceylan not only writes and directs his films, but produces and edits them himself as well. “Uzak” received the Grand Jury Award at the 2003 Cannes Festival. Mahmut, a photographer, lets his unemployed cousin Yusuf stay with him while he looks for a job. But the flat is small, the city overcrowded; their hopes are high but their chances are slim. The men begin to get on each other’s nerves

Director

NURI BILGE CEYLAN (*1959) is one of contemporary Turkish cinema's most important figures. His epic Winter Sleep, which was also shown at FILMFEST HAMBURG, won the Golden Palm in 2014. The Wild Pear Tree also ran in competition at Cannes.
