Story
In his disturbing study of a loner, Pablo Larraín links the trauma of the Pinochet dictatorship with the disco craze of the 1970s. Santiago, 1978. Raoul, a bad-tempered would-be Travolta and psychologically disturbed petty criminal, is the leader of a small dance troupe which performs its weary routines in the delapidated bars of the town. He is also a bomb waiting to go off. When he explodes, he kills. While the situation in Chile becomes ever more unbearable, Raoul continues to pursue his dream – and with every fit of temper climbs ever further down the ladder of humanity.

PABLO LARRAÍN (*1976) is one of Latin American cinema’s leading directors. FILMFEST HAMBURG showed his second film Tony Manero in 2008 and No in 2012, which was the first Chilean film to be nominated for an Oscar as best foreign language film.Trailer
