The Double

Story

Office worker Simon comes to work one morning, only to find that he has a new colleague that looks exactly like him. Simon, whose position in the company is not exactly secure in the first place, is often bullied by his boss and now has to deal with a doppelgänger called James. And while James looks just like him, his character is the opposite: in contrast to the neurotic Simon, James is confident, charming and super-smooth. Above all, he is more successful with women – including Hannah, Simon’s secret love. A virtuoso noir grotesque based on the novella by Dostoyevsky and reminiscent of the psychedelic cinematic worlds of Welles, Lynch or Polanski.

Director

Richard Ayoade (1977) works as a stand-up comedian, actor and director. He has made music videos for the Arctic Monkeys and Super Furry Animals and is in the cast of the British sitcom The IT Crowd. His debut feature in 2010 was Submarine.
