Story
Hongkong has had an eventful history that has always been reflected in the relationship to the Chinese mainland. Today, Chinese influence is once again increasing noticeably. Reason enough for five Hongkong directors to ask themselves where the journey will take them and their city. How will it look in 10 years’ time? In five short films, they create scenarios describing the end of political and cultural independence – and examine the possibilities for resistance. What could be done if their dialect were forbidden and young people indoctrinated, when political upheaval is orchestrated and even the act of selling local eggs is declared subversive? Ten Years is five kinds of dystopia – and a warning about the loss of freedomand culture.
