Story
Hybrid The prison in Tadmor was a place of terror. The poet Faraj Bayrakdar called in “the kingdom of death and madness”. Until it was destroyed by the IS in 2015, Syrian and Lebanese dissidents were imprisoned by the Assad regime and systematically tortured and humiliated. Eight former inmates bear witness to the horrors they experienced there. To get over the trauma, they build a facsimile of Tadmor in an abandoned school near Beirut. Here, in the roles of victim and perpetrator they reenact the horrific events – and relive their survival. Tadmor is an astonishing film that draws the viewer in with the power of its words and the vividness of its pictures.
