Story
Her husband has been bedridden since a boat accident and it’s now up to Siti to support her family. During the day she sells snacks at the beach and in the evening she’s a karaoke girl in an illegal bar. The involuntary acquaintanceship with a policeman complicates her situation further – now she seems to have an exit option in her life. With its focus on the stories of simple people and stark monochrome photography, the film is reminiscent of classics of neo-realism and in Siti creates a feminist figurehead for Indonesian cinema.
Director
