Story
The 1980s: Europe is cut in half by the Iron Curtain. Three young Estonians manage to flee the Soviet Union to Sweden. For them, it’s like entering the Promised Land that they know from Miami Vice and Knight Rider. The Swedes celebrate the young refugees as heroes who have escaped the Evil Empire. But the young men’s euphoria soon dissipates. Their new reality is the refugee centre and the pittance they get as pocket money. They need jobs! The three try and work out what opportunities they have and get into one mess after another. The film is a turbulent comedy about three wacky “dissidents” and a West whose gold doesn’t glitter.
